Using Positive Education to Support Children and Help Them Flourish

Exploring a whole school approach to improving resilience, wellbeing and attainment

With increasing number of schools looking for ways to support the wellbeing of pupils and staff with limited resources, knowing where to turn for answers can be a real headache.

For Jim Nicholson, Headteacher at Mellor Primary School in Stockport, any answers he found needed to be grounded in a solid evidence base. His research led him to Everyday Magic, a Positive Education programme based on sound psychological principles tailored for schools. It’s even approved by the British Psychological Society.

The programme is a whole school approach to improving resilience, wellbeing and attainment. In this interview Jim explains what led him to Everyday Magic, and the impact it has had on the school. He also talks about the impact on his own life, creating a rather special joyous moment. You can find out more about Everyday Magic here.
